Infographic - Skyscraper Externalities

Part of what I've always liked about Durham, North Carolina is that while it is a midsize city and the core city for a midsized metro area, it has a small town, Main Street feel.  It also seems that too many cities once they go skyscraper become a bit too pretentious or turn into bullies.

But I’ve repeatedly kept coming back to the infographic shown below since first seeing it in my November 2011, issue of Wired Magazine.  It is a great illustration of the externalities, both positive and negative, that result from land-use decisions.
